Mouse

I originally made these mice for my cats.  If you also have nip-heads and plan to make mice for them, put some catnip inside.  You can also stuff them with regular filler.

Mouse

This gray mouse is made of worsted weight yarn(80% acrylic, 20% wool).  I used 3.75mm crochet hook.

Round 1: Sc 4 in magic ring (4)
R2: Increase every sc (8)
R3: *Sc 3, increase in next sc, *repeat (10)
R4: *Sc 4, increase in next sc, *repeat (12)
R5: *Sc 5, increase in next sc, *repeat (14)
R6: *Sc 6, increase in next sc, *repeat (16)
R7: *Sc 7, increase in next sc, *repeat (18)
R8 through R12: Sc around (18)
Stuff with filling.  If you are filling with nip, stay with me.  If you are using fiberfill, move onto R13.
Cut scrap cloth(I reuse unwanted cloth) in triangle folded in half.  Sew one side to make a cone-shaped bag.
If you are hand stitching, make sure that the stitches are tight and close together to avoid nip spilling out.
Invert the bag and fill with catnip.
Close the top by holding loose end and stitching down.  It doesn't have to look pretty!
Place the bag inside the crocheted body.

R13: *decrease 3 sc together, *repeat 5times (6)
R14: *decrease 2 sc together, *repeat twice (3)
R15: Decrease 3 sc together to close the hole.
Chain 15.  Leave the yarn 5 times the length of the body and cut off.
Fasten the end of the chain.

Using a knitting needle, stitch  through the chain toward the body.
You can use remaining yarn to secure the tail and fill any openings by stitching.  Cut off any leftover.

For eyes, I use cotton yarn, but you can use adhesive eyes or other alternative.  I sew them on with a knitting needle on R4.  If you want to use plastic eyes, insert them before you stuff the body.

For ears, I find it the easiest to cut out 2 little felt ears and sew them on above and behind the eyes.

Happy crocheting!
