Frog Amigurumi

Five Aminekos later, I was ready to crochet something else.  I modified the Amineko pattern to make a crocheted frog.  It gave me an excuse to use my green yarn stash.

Here's how I made him head to toe.

Lentarow(Len) The Frog Amigurumi

2 shades of worsted weight green yarns and a 3.75mm hook were used to make this frog.

Eyes (make 2)
Round 1: a magic ring with 6sc (6)
R2: Increase every sc (12)
R3: *Sc 3, increase in next sc, *repeat (15)
R4: *Sc 4, increase in next sc, *repeat (18)
R5: Sc around (18)
Leave enough yarn to sew with and cut off the rest.  Fasten off.
I sewed a line on using a piece of black cotton yarn.  You can use plastic eyes or buttons if you prefer more distinctive eyes.  Stuff lightly.

Leave about 2 inches and cut the yarn.  Fasten off.  Tuck remaining yarn inside.
Place several small river pebbles to add weight and stuff.

Arms (make 2):
Start with a yarn with lighter shade.
R1: a magic ring with 6sc (6)
R2: Increase every sc (12)
R3-5: Sc around (12)
Switch to the darker yarn starting next round (I actually start the other yarn with the last loop in R5).
R6: Sc around (12)
Place a small river pebble inside.
R7: *Sc, decrease 2 sc together, *repeat 3 times (8)
R8-28: Sc around (8)
Leave enough yarn to sew with and cut off the rest.  Fasten off.

Legs (make 2):
Start with a yarn with lighter shade.
R1: a magic ring with 6sc (6)
R2: Increase every sc (12)
R3: *Sc 3, increase in next sc, *repeat twice (15)
R4-6: Sc around (15)
Switch to the darker yarn starting next round (I actually start the other yarn with the last loop in R6).
R7: Sc around (15)
Place a small river pebble inside.
R8: *Sc, decrease 2 sc together, *repeat 4 times (10)
R9-25: Sc around (10)
Leave enough yarn to sew with and cut off the rest.  Fasten off.

Assembly:
1. Stitch eyes on the head.
2. Stitch red yarn across lower portion of the head.  Form a nice curve as he is smiling.  Using a sewing needle and red thread, sew the curved yarn onto the head.
3. Stitch head and body together.
4. Attach arms.
5. Attach legs.  In order to compensate for lack of tail which provide better balance in amonekos, sew legs slightly higher.  Len's legs are between R8 and R9.
6. Name your frog and enjoy!

A picture of top of his head might be helpful to see where his eyes are attached.  The eyes are positioned in slight angle.
